newsPolice officers are not what they used to be! "People going through police training today have a very different experience from their predecessors. Police training is now much more community focused, something that British Transport Police is celebrating in an evening to thank those partner organisations that are helping train the police officers of the future." The residents of Anchor House won the inaugural Michael Whippman Award 2007 for Service User Involvement. The award, in recognition of the contribution that homeless people make, was awarded at a reception at Sadlers Wells. Anchor House residents were worthy winners as they demonstrated to the judges their achievements in just 18 months. In that time, they developed an involvement model, a policy and procedure committee, a range of courses, a football team and community volunteering.
